New Edge Goes Wireless with Wi-Fi
Posted on: 02/25/2004
New Edge Networks today announced the broadband carrier
is offering businesses high-speed wireless networking
as an option with its DSL plans. New Edge is combining
DSL access with 802.11g wireless technologies supporting
speeds up to 54 mbps.
Consequently, businesses can access the Internet and
a corporate network wirelessly. New Edge, of Vancouver,
Wash., says a business class combined gateway negates
the need to buy a wireless router or to hardwire computer
devices.
The combined DSL/Wi-Fi router has a firewall and embedded
software to allow Web site monitoring and time-of-day
Internet access controls, the company says.
